‘Summer Band Factory’ is a unique summer holiday experience for young musicians aged 11 – 18. Our students come from all over England, Europe and even the world to compose, arrange, play and perform music with other keen young musicians and talk music with industry professionals. Now in its ninth year ‘Summer Band Factory’ continues to be a huge success.
This year the ‘Summer Band Factory’ is running for three weeks. Please see below for details of our Summer Band Factory courses.
Activities include:
- playing in a pop/rock band setup;
- songwriting workshops;
- stage craft workshops;
- live sound engineering workshops;
- jam nights;
- rehearsals;
- live performance opportunities.

MINI SUMMER BAND FACTORY
Residential Course for 11-13s
Uppingham School, Rutland
Tuesday 17 – Saturday 21 August 2010
The Mini Summer Band Factory will be held in Uppingham, Rutland, where the students have access to Uppingham School's state of the art facilities, including their music school, theatre and accommodation.
From Tuesday to Friday our tutor team of industry professionals will lead sessions in composition and arrangement. The students will research songs, discuss ideas and compose original material. From Wednesday afternoon rehearsals are scheduled and the students will begin to focus on the detail of their songs.
New this year we are working with Rockhopper Studios to provide Summer Band Factory students with a fun and exciting recording opportunity. Each band will get the chance to record a song in the Rockhopper, a unique mobile studio self-contained within a 1963 Airstream Overlander caravan! Bands will also receive stagecraft sessions in preparation for their gig on Saturday. The Summer Band Factory gig will be held in the largest privately owned theatre in England and is open to friends and family.
Mini Summer Band Factory 2010 promises to be packed full of music making as well as allowing students to relax in the evenings and make new friends.

Exactly the same structure as the Mini Summer Band Factory, see above, but with content for 14-18 year olds.

LONDON SUMMER BAND FACTORY
Non-residential Course for 13-18s
British Academy of New Music, Bow/Straford, London
Monday 23 - Friday 27 August 2010
The London Summer Band Factory will be held at The British Academy of New Music in London, a “centre of musical excellence and focal point for music training in the capital” - George Martin.
Focusing on composition, performance and recording, our non-residential Summer Band Factory provides students aged 13 – 18 from in and around London to meet and make music with other keen young musicians.
