JAZZ Musician: OVERVIEW
 
 

 

By doing the Jazz Musician course you will:

  • Maximise your potential as a jazz performer.
  • Develop your jazz improvisation skills in live ensembles.
  • Improve your instrument and musicianship skills in relation to playing all genres of jazz. Please note you will be expected to be playing at grade 6 or equivalent to access this course.
  • Develop jazz band skills through regular rehearsal.
  • Compose and arrange songs and tunes.
  • Learn all about jazz music from trad to acid jazz, from be bop to fusion, from swing to contemporary jazz.
  • Record songs and perform them live in professional venues.
  • Understand how to make your music unique and relevant.
  • Learn how to promote you and your music and get it to the people that matter.
  • Get access to regional and national music opportunities (participating centres only).
  • Create CDs, MP3s and podcasts and promote your music online.
  • Gain a recognised and industry-relevant qualification. The course leads to a Rockschool/ATM Combined Diploma at Level 3 (A Level equivalent) which generates 96 ten-hour credits over two years of study. The qualification is unit-based and assessment is focused on practical music-making activities.
  • Gain access to Higher Education popular music and jazz music courses.
