Ten years in Norwich banner

Link to Feb 2010 Open Days

The Norwich centre is situated on King Street, known locally as the creative quarter, in the centre of the city. Our neighbours include The Waterfront, Community Music East, The King Street Festival Office and The Museum of Contemporary Art.

The centre was recently enlarged, being opened by Charles Clarke MP in November 2006. It boasts five band rehearsal rooms, a recording studio, a post-production suite, two technology suites, two seminar rooms and two DJ rooms. The student body currently numbers almost 200 making it the premier music training venue in East Anglia. The college also acts as a rehearsal and recording facility for hire at evenings and weekends.

There are lots of opportunities open to students through the links with the community. These include an Access To Music Norwich Radio Show on a local FM license, stages at The King Street Festival and opportunities to perform at The CFG festival in the city. The centre also hosted its own masterclass week featuring artists from bands such as The Prodigy.

Tyger UK supports top US band
Student, Tyger Joe supported Wednesday 13’s new project Gunfire 76; a rock band from North Carolina. With Wednesday 13’s huge fanbase it was a fantastic opportunity for Tyger Joe UK. Not only that, but it was their first ever gig! Tyger Joe O’Connor-Hendrick studies on the Performing Musician course. Centre manager Ian Johnson arranged the support slot; ‘I asked Ian if there were any bands that needed support and he said Wednesday 13- so we took it!’

As well as setting up more gigs the band have recorded their EP with producer Nick Brine (Oasis, The Darkness) Check them out here

Endorsement deal with Cort Guitars
After purchasing a Cort guitar last week, guitar tutor from Norwich, Eugene, was so impressed with it that he visited their website to check out the full range of guitars…he noticed they didn’t have any endorsements. After a quick call to Cort explaining that the centre had 51 eager guitarists who would love to use their guitars a deal was struck!

The endorsement deal has given the centre two guitars free and the students can get 20% off the guitars too. Check out Cort here
