Editor of the NME visits students
Students were recently visited by Jamie Hodgson, the editor of the NME. Jamie talked to students about a range of topics including future music trends, the continuing dominance of credible pop music in 2009 and the increased presence of women both as artists and in key background roles. Other topics discussed included the NME from a historical perspective and the role of online journalism.
Centre Manager Luke Hannam said that Jamie was extremely complimentary about the quality and diversity of student questions. The NME have since booked seats at the Rich Mix end of year show.
The Lost Levels Signed to Major Booking Agent
The Lost Levels have just been signed to award winning booking agent The Agency Group. Awarded International Booking Agency of the Year, the band’s agent Chris Myhill boasts Razorlight, Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service, as just some of the bands he’s worked with.
The Lost Levels consist of 5 members, 3 of which studied with Access to Music on the Artist Development and Performing Musician courses. You’ll be able to catch The Lost Levels, live, in February as they promote their next single Training, on record label Something in Construction. Check out their myspace
Esser on TV
Esser’s music has already been pounced on by huge brands such as Pepsi and popular TV shows EastEnders, Hollyoaks and Skins, to name just a few. And now, monster technology company Hewlett- Packard has become next in line to snap him up as his track Headlock is featured in the new advert.
Ben Esser studied at the Southend centre and on the Artist Development course at the British Academy of New Music.
Lordaeron signed to Union Black Records
Ex student Mike Ranzetta’s band Lordaeron have recently been signed to metal specialist label Union Black Records. The debut album entitled ‘Sacrosanct’ is set to be released in time for Christmas. They recorded it themselves and mastered it with Tim Turan whose credits include Marilyn Manson and Killing Joke, to name but a few. Mike studied on the Artist Development course.
